Medicare Supplement Special Enrollment Period

We have been notified by CMS that Great Plains Health System is no longer accepting Medicare Advantage plans effective January 1, 2025.
As a result, there is a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) for impacted members to return to Original Medicare and enroll in a Medicare Supplement plan without underwriting (guaranteed issue).
Who is affected?
Per CMS, impacted members are those that are currently enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan and are assigned to, currently receiving care, or have received care from Great Plains within the last three months.
Impacted members will receive a letter notifying them of their eligibility for the SEP and guaranteed issue right to enroll in a Medicare Supplement.
Deadline:
The SEP and guaranteed issue right will be available for two full months from when the member received the letter.
How does the guaranteed issue work?
The guaranteed issue right is available to eligible members for any Medicare Supplement carrier in the state and is not limited to the company that the member was with on their Medicare Advantage plan.
In order to enroll in a Medicare Supplement plan with no underwriting, the member must provide the guaranteed issue eligibility letter from the plan they were on.
What supplement plans are available?
Available plans are A, B, C*, D, F*, G, K, and L.
*Plans C and F are only available to those eligible for Medicare prior to January 1, 2020.
