I am going to give you a case study and I would love to hear what your answers are to the situation.
There are two doctors and only they can perform a life saving procedure. The first doctor (doctor A), spent many years and resources to become the very best and he has had a 100% success rate. The second doctor (doctor B) did not spend as much time nor resources but has been able to do this complicated procedure with a success rate of 50%. One out of two of his patients dies from the procedure. With this knowledge and the fact that each doctor can only perform at the very most 10 procedures per day, the following dilemma presents itself. Twenty people need this procedure tomorrow. Without the procedure, all twenty would die. How would you suggest which individuals would be sent to Doctor A and which individuals would be resigned to go to Doctor B? Please explain your reasoning for determining based only on the information presented.
